Did you know our very own handpan art form (through the steelpan) originated from the African slaves of European colonies in the Caribbean? They had been stripped of their cultural identity and their music, so they created new music using things they found lying around (oil drums).
Today we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr, a man who stood for one race alone: the human race, a "symphony of brotherhood" as he called it.
As a handpan community, I hope we can love "the other", speak up for injustices and encourage community with people of all ethnicities.
