I am delighted to announce I will be performing on Hang® / Handpan at the World Expo (also known as the World Fair) in Dubai starting October 1st 2021 through March 31st 2022.
It is an honor to represent the handpan art form at a World Expo, to introduce international visitors to the round metal instrument often known as "hang drum", and to share a global stage with fellow official Expo musicians from around the world as part of the Expo Music Department lead by Maestro Harout Fazlian. Dubai Expo 2020 is set to be the single biggest event in the history of the world, expecting to attract 25 million visitors over 6 months.
I arrived a month before the Opening Ceremony to write new original music specifically for Expo 2020 Dubai to be performed across the many Expo stages, as part of the following ensembles: "Myths & Moods" (with Christina Polycarpou on the Cretan Lyra), "Ethereal Sounds" (with Nassib Bouchebel on the Australian aboriginal Didgeridoo), "Diatonic Meets Chromatic" (with Alaa Allabdullah on the Qanun), "Tonal Impressions" (with Qing Du on the Guzheng) and "PAN Imagination" (with Earl Brooks Jr. on the Steel Pan).
